Confidence is an essential aspect of our lives that greatly impacts how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. It plays a crucial role in determining our actions and decisions, especially when it comes to finding our life purpose and ultimately being fulfilled and happy - isn't that the end game of the ultimate game of life? A lack of confidence can stand in the way and block you from reaching your full potential.

Low self-esteem and confidence can make you doubt your abilities and prevent you from pursuing your passions and goals. We tend to shy away from taking risks and stepping out of our comfort zones, which limits opportunities for growth and discovery. This can be especially true when it comes to finding our life purpose, as it requires us to take bold steps and explore uncharted territories. Uncharted and unknown are scary concepts to many people. But "playing it safe" will hold you back and stack up regrets. (Listen to my solo podcast episode on "back up plans" HERE)

A lack of confidence can lead to negative self-talk and negative thoughts, which feeds into our insecurities and amplifies our fears. This vicious cycle can make it difficult for us to make progress and find our purpose.

Everyone has moments of doubt and insecurity, but it is important to recognize that these feelings do not define us and you can build up confidence to the point where those moments are so fleeting, they barely count (versus having those feeling simmer and boil). Building confidence requires us to practice self-reflection and that is not always fun, but always worth it.

To overcome a lack of confidence and find your life purpose, take a look at some necessary steps:

  • Identify your strengths and weaknesses: It's hard. It's not about beating oneself up though, it is about being realistic about who you are and have been. Understanding your strengths and weaknesses can help you build confidence, change behaviors, and focus on what you excel at.
  • Surround yourself with positive influences: Surrounding yourself with people who uplift and support you can help boost your confidence and keep you motivated on your journey.
  • Take small steps (but please take some!): Taking small steps towards your goals can help you build confidence and reduce the fear of failure. This can also help you gain momentum and keep you moving forward...each step fosters confidence and self-esteem because you are taking action to propel yourself forward.
  • Embrace failure: Failure is an inevitable part of the journey, but it can also be a valuable learning experience. Embracing failure can help you build resilience and confidence in your abilities. Failure is feedback.
  • Explore things you love: Just stop and forget about what you think is realistic to pursue or what you think might make you money...just think about things you love to do or have always wanted to try. If you aren't completely sure - go check them out. You might hate things you once thought you would be really into. Just get into it. See if some of these things are for you or not for you. In the action-taking inherently in exploration, you will get closer to discovering your purpose.

Focus on your strengths, surround yourself with positive influences, take small steps, start to embrace failure as just feedback. You can overcome confidence challenges and find the purpose and fulfillment you seek...but first, you must seek your way out of living in your shadows and move to the forefront of your life.
